Vista Ridge High School senior Lauren Stallings, recognizing Allison Lyles: “The most influential teacher in my life has been my PALS teacher, Ms. Lyles. Ms. Lyles has been a mentor and friend since junior year. She taught me how to serve others with compassion and an open heart, not just through words, but most importantly through my actions. She is a teacher that is always there for her students and genuinely cares about their well being. She has given me countless opportunities to display leadership throughout my school [career] and has challenged me to see the perspective [of] other students and to see others with an open mind. Ms. Lyles has been there for me through thick and thin and is always someone I could count on, from everyday worries to just practicing speeches, she has shown me what it means to be a true leader and living life with integrity. She is someone that will have a permanent place in my heart and character. I have grown so much just over the past two years, and I want to thank her for everything she has ever done for me.”
Vista Ridge High School senior Mauricio Orozco Munoz, recognizing Emily Faulkner: “There are many great VRHS teachers on campus, but Ms. Faulkner stands out by a mile for many reasons. Ever since Freshman year, she has been there to help me and my AVID class in developing responsibility, organization, social skills and many more. The reason why I am the person that I am today is because of her. She has made us get out of our comfort zone and to have good study habits and collaborative abilities through tutorials. We have created an AVID family, becoming better people than who we were before. Not only did she help push us, but also is one of the hardest working people I have ever met. Her work ethic is amazing, and she truly cares for everyone’s success. I had Ms. Faulkner for the two years of high school, but after those years, she has still remained just as helpful, if not more, especially for the college application process and scholarships. There really is not anything that can match my gratitude and appreciation for her.”
