  • Cedar Park High School senior Alexis Cheatum, recognizing Carlos Montoya:
"“I will never forget my first encounter with Mr. Montoya. I kept hearing how he is known to be energetic when teaching his students. I was already adamant about focusing and succeeding in physics my junior year because of how difficult everyone said it would be - let alone, physics is not an easy topic to learn if you are like me and do not express large interest in science. I was the first one to enter the classroom and proceeded to give him a handshake... until his hand went into the air. ‘Hi-five,’ he exclaimed. I couldn’t help but laugh. Throughout the year, Mr. Montoya never turned any student away who needed help, even if he was overwhelmed with grading. If before a test any of us felt intimidated by the material, Mr. Montoya would give us words of encouragement. There have been multiple teachers that have impacted my life, but Mr. Montoya has shown me the truth in loving what you do.”

  • Cedar Park High School senior Daniel Williamson, recognizing Lisa Holt:
“God bless her, Mrs. Holt has patiently taught me about music since I was a freshman in her Varsity Men’s Choir. She has also coached me through and prepared me for TMEA All-State audition processes, UIL State Solo and Ensemble competitions, my sophomore- year role as “Phantom” in The Phantom of the Opera, and many, many concerts and other musical performances. Her dedication alone deserves a shout-out. But, throughout high school, she has been a mentor, too, teaching me about determination, leadership, human expression, commitment, teamwork, passion and much more; it is not by mistake that I have recognized an arts teacher as the largest influence in my academic career. The lessons I learn in choir pertain to far more than making great music—they also apply to academics, to relationships and to life. Although I am pursuing medicine, I plan to continue making music in college, largely because of the experiences I have had in CPHS choir. Mrs. Holt is an excellent musician, an inspirational role-model, a good-humored friend and a surprisingly competitive dodgeball and Fortnite player. Many thanks to Mrs. Holt and to LEEF for giving me the opportunity to recognize this under-appreciated educator and leader.”

  • Cedar Park High School senior Hunter Howe, recognizing Cami Jenschke:
“Mrs. Jenschke’s AP Human Geography class was my first taste of high school, and I immediately liked it. Mrs. Jenschke made learning a difficult subject enjoyable, and she helped me develop useful study habits that I have used throughout the remainder of my high school career. The best thing about Mrs. Jenschke, and the reason I want to recognize her, is that she has been more than a teacher to me - she has also been a mentor. For the past four years I have been a part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which she sponsors. In those four years, I have gone from being a member to a co-captain of the club. I have seen first-hand the amount of time Mrs. Jenschke has poured into the club and how it has created an environment where faith flourishes. Her faith in me and encouragement have helped me mature spiritually and as a leader. For that, I will always be grateful.”

  • Cedar Park High School senior Kyra Martinez, recognizing Christopher Cieri:
“Mr. Cieri has not only taught me about chemistry, but about how to embody what it means to truly serve and care about those around you. Throughout the past three years of knowing him, I have enjoyed getting to know his passion for teaching, as well as his strong desire to make chemistry enjoyable for everyone. He has taught me that there is more to life than one bad grade or one bad day, and for that I am forever grateful. Whether I need academic help, or even a pep talk, he has never failed to be there for me. He has instilled confidence in me throughout my high school career, and it is incredibly comforting to know that I will always have him cheering me on. Although I gained great knowledge about chemistry, there are not enough words to express the knowledge I gained about selflessness from Mr. Cieri. It is an honor to have the opportunity to recognize him for everything he does, and he is truly one of the best teachers, and people, I know. This world is a better place with him in it, and I can honestly say that he has made me a better version of myself in every way possible.”

  • Cedar Park High School senior Noah Torr, recognizing Anthony Garcia:
“Mr. Garcia has been the most influential teacher in my high school career. Senior year of high school is the time where students prepare for their future, and Mr. Garcia has been crucial in helping me decide what I want to do for the rest of my life beyond high school. He has prepared me for my future in journalism and will continue to prepare the journalists of the future. I went into class not knowing how to do much of anything besides turn on a camera. At the end of the class, I am now confident in my storytelling abilities and will remember all of Mr. Garcia’s helpful tips. I am very honored to have him as a teacher and blessed to know I can always call on him for advice and guidance.”

  • Leander High School senior Alyssa Shewmaker, recognizing Shawna Queen:
“Throughout high school, I have had some extraordinary teachers, but none of them come close to the phenomenal Mrs. Queen. She makes it her mission to take the time to know every student. Mrs. Queen does not underestimate the importance of informal conversations, humor and attentiveness. She lets what she knows about her students guide the way she teaches us. Mrs. Queen is the teacher that stands out to me as the one who challenged me to realize my potential. She knows what she stands for and is the teacher that empowers others to speak up for themselves. By challenging me to step out of my comfort zone, Mrs. Queen has taught me the importance of advocating for myself. There are days when this is challenging, but Mrs. Queen always keeps me going when I need it. One of the greatest lessons I have learned from Mrs. Queen is to make a sincere attempt to thoroughly enjoy life. By following her example, I have learned to live my life with passion. Mrs. Queen, thank you for teaching to change the world... one person at a time.”

  • Leander High School senior Cydney Bradford, recognizing Elizabeth Garcia:
“Ms. Garcia was my Spanish II Pre-AP teacher. I immediately was drawn to her spirit and passion for teaching. Even after I was no longer in her class, I made sure I visited her almost every day. I love talking to her about good things, school things and crazy things in my life. When she was going to school to further her education to become a counselor, I got to see first hand how determined she was to get that degree. I was so proud of her - as proud as a student could be for a teacher - when she got the counselor position this year. I was more than excited for her. Ms. Garcia has always looked out for me, and I am proud to not only call her my counselor, but also my friend. Thank you, Ms. Garcia, for everything you do for me and what you will do for me in the future.”

“Mrs. Feliciano is one of the many amazing teachers that I have had the opportunity to be taught by throughout my education. Not only have I learned an abundance of information from Mrs. Feliciano in the classroom, I have gained so much knowledge from observing her character and actions. Mrs. Feliciano is caring, intentional, mindful and most importantly she serves her students with a gracious heart. She is constantly reminding us to take time out of our days to be mindful of our actions and how they affect those around us. She spends countless hours of her time preparing thoughtful lessons for our classes, attending her students’ extracurricular events and being a present role model for us. I am overjoyed to be able to recognize her hard work and devotion, to not only me, but all of her students. • Leander High School senior Lidia Kivil, recognizing Kasandra Diomande:
“Mrs. Diomande is always there for myself and her other students. She is willing to stay after school with me to help me out after class; she is willing to listen to my personal problems, or about my life, while also telling me a little bit about herself; and she is very gracious about helping me to do makeup work. She is willing to stay after school with me to help me out after class; she is willing to listen to my personal problems, or about my life, while also telling me a little bit about herself; and she is very gracious about helping me to do makeup work. Mrs. Diomande is very patient, and it means a lot that she tries to understand my personal life and how it affects my school work or my ability to do school work.”

  • New Hope High School's Blake Miller, recognizing Jennifer Burgess:
“When I think of Jennifer Burgess, the obvious titles come to mind: Teacher, Mentor, Counselor, etc. There is but concealed beneath the insinuation of a job description someone that at heart actually cares for not only her Students, but their Instruction as a whole. The dissimilarity of the two are separate but equal to endorse. When I first transferred to New Hope I was taking Statistics and was told there was an online version a part of the Edgenuity platform. Spoiler alert, there was nothing of the sort. This left Ms. Burgess and I with no textbook, little framework or documentation to progress from. She took the prospect in stride to work with what we had and presented both of us with new learning challenges. Maggie Gallagher once said, “Of all the hard jobs around, one of the hardest is being a good teacher.” Jennifer Burgess is not only measured as a good teacher but a respectable practitioner who through life has encouraged others to excel in both their education and forthcoming development.”

Cedar Park High School senior Daniel Williamson, recognizing Lisa Holt:

Cedar Park High School senior Hunter Howe, recognizing Cami Jenschke:
